Dutch Apple Sliceform

I posted a lattice version of a sliceform apple years ago, but somehow missed putting up the solid version!

Recently I was messing around with map pages making paper roses, and came across the page for the Netherlands, a beautiful green.  So, with a wink, I call this the Dutch Apple sliceform papercraft.

How to make a solid sliceform apple

Make it!

Open in your software.  Size should be 9.7" x 11.5".

Cut pieces.

Assemble from the center out.

Start with pieces 1 and 2, sliding the center slots together.

Add the two number 3 slices, sliding the center slot of 3 into the next empty (bottom) slot of piece number 1.

The two pieces 3, one added to the front and one to the back.  Dotted lines show where they slide together with piece 1.  Each piece 3 is parallel to piece 2.

In a similar manner, add the two number 4 slices, sliding the center slot of 4 into the next empty slot of piece 2, AND attaching to the number 3 slices.

Add the number 5 slices all around: center slot of piece 5 on the outermost slot of piece 1 or piece 2, THEN outer slots of piece 5 joined to outer slot of piece 3 or 4.

Add the stem.  Glue stem pieces back to back, to piece 1, nestling the stem slots on either side of piece 2.

Folds flat!

See the pumpkin sliceform here for more pictures of a similar assembly process.
