Happy Birthday Pop Up Card

birthday pop up card

Here is a plain and simple origamic architecture pop up card of the words "Happy Birthday." It is two stacked boxes or steps. If you have not made a simple box with letters (see Lesson 9) you may want to try that tutorial first before attempting this card.

If you are hand cutting, print the reversed file on the back of your card.

Cut on black lines, score on red and green lines.

Fold the card. If you are looking at the front of the card, red lines are valley folds, green lines are mountain folds.

Start working in the creases, a bit at a time.

I start by pinching the two small creases that make the center fold of the card.

Then I work the creases at the tops and bottoms of the letters (I did not cut out around the letters on this white sample), then the long folds that are not so delicate.

Once everything is pre-creased in the proper direction, gently start closing the card. Push each crease from the back side to make it fold into the proper position as the card closes.
