Camera Card using the Deca-Card.

The front can be opened from each corner to reveal 8 different views.

Construct the 10-sided card

If you have not already done so, practice making a plain paper model before tackling this project. Instructions on this post are abbreviated. Refer to previous post for complete directions.

Select 8 pictures to use in the card. Using a photo editing program, make 4 rectangular picture pieces, arranging two 3" x 3" square pictures side by side for each rectangle. Orient the photos as indicated by the red arrows. Arrows point to the top of each photo.

Fold each rectangular piece as you did in the plain paper model. Lightly pencil identifying letters on each point. You will only be seeing the plain paper side as you work and it is very easy to get the pieces confused.

Fold each end on the diagonals.

Fold left point up and toward center, fold right point down and toward center, then unfold.

Lay piece B on top of piece A as shown. Then add C, and D, tucking D under A. See plain paper instructions for more details.

It should look like this.

Before you glue, check that the pictures are right side up. Check both layers at each of the four corners.

Glue down flaps.

Flip card over.

Fold in flaps from this side, working counterclockwise, tucking under the last flap. Glue flaps.

Assemble camera.

Camera body and lens template. Print size is 8.5" x 11". Lens square is 3"

Cut out camera body and lens pieces.

Glue lens piece to front side (A-B-C-D side) of folded card.
