Buy this book! :)

I've been waiting and waiting for Duncan Birmingham's book, Pop up! A manual of paper mechanisms to be reprinted. I've been looking for a copy for years (I think the prison library, the only place in the state that owns it, is sick of sending it to me on interlibrary loan), and was excited that Tarquin supposedly was going to publish it again. That was almost two years ago!

Looks like we're getting something even better than a reprint--a whole new, color illustrated book! It's still in "pre-order" status in the U.S.

but available from the U.K. And guess what, free shipping (worldwide) from Book Depository. I'm ordering mine today!

I have the "Pop-Up! A Manual of Paper Mechanisms" book that I bought at Half-Price Books a couple of years ago in good condition for $3.98. It is really a great book, one of the very best, but seeing the Table of Contents for the new book "Popup Designs and Paper Mechanisms, ..." it looks to be even better than the original. I'll buy it soon!

David,

I've seen your stuff. Impressive! Readers, check out his photostream:

$3.98!!??? What a deal. I wonder if it will be essentially the same book, but with better illustrations. Not that there's anything wrong with that--the original is great.

Carol, Thanks for your kind remark about my stuff and for the reference to my photostream. I just now ordered my copy of the new book through Book Depository in the U.K. I just could not wait for the American edition to become available.
I've learned lots (and am still learning much) from all your past and current editions of "Extreme Cards and Papermaking". Please continue to broaden our knowledge with your marvelous ideas.
